🔍 What Are Roles and Permissions?
hyperexponential’s platform (hx) uses a role-based access control (RBAC) system. Roles define what a user can see and do within the platform, ensuring users have the appropriate level of access based on their responsibilities.
👤 Common User Roles in hx Renew
The specific names and permissions of roles may vary based on your organization's setup, but here are some commonly used roles:
| Role | Description | Permissions Include |
|---|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to account settings, users, and model versions. | User management, permissions, integrations, workspace configuration |
| Model Developer | Can build, edit, and manage pricing models. | Model creation, formula editing, versioning |
| Underwriter | Can run and test models, input quote data, view results. | Input management, scenario testing, model execution |
| Viewer | Read-only access to models and outputs. | View models and results, no edit capabilities |
Note: Your organization may use custom roles. Contact your Admin or hyperexponential support if you need clarification on role definitions.
⚙️ How to Assign or Change a Role
Only users with Admin rights can manage user roles.
To assign or change a user’s role:
- Log in to your hx Renew account.
- Navigate to Settings > Users.
- Locate the user you want to update.
- Click the Edit icon or row.
- Select the appropriate Role from the dropdown.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Changes take effect immediately. Users may need to refresh their session.
🚫 Troubleshooting Common Issues
❓ "I can’t access a model or feature I need"
- Check your assigned role with your Admin—your role may not have the required permissions.
- If you’re a Model Developer or Underwriter but still lack access, there may be workspace-specific restrictions in place.
❓ "I accidentally assigned the wrong role"
- If you're an Admin, follow the steps above to correct the role.
- If you're not an Admin and lost access to Admin-only features, please contact another Admin in your organization or submit a support request.
❓ "I don’t see the Users section in Settings"
- You likely do not have Admin rights. Please contact your organization’s Admin to request changes.
